My very first song! It was inspired by a poem my wife wrote, Bittersweet, where I laid down a simple bass track with my electric cello and a jazzy open-chorded guitar track over the built-in drum machine groove.

Lyrics to "Bittersweet":

I thought I heard a plaintive cry
Outside my bedroom window late last night
It sounded so sad and mournful
Like a poor lost soul from light
It was soft and it broke my heart
So I went outside to check
I stood upon the grass in my bare feet
Then I felt a fire within my neck

And I went down hard onto the ground
Like a train slammed into me
A shadow blocked out the moon
And that was all that I could see
It whispered in a foreign voice
Words I could not comprehend
It meant for me to understand
That this was not the end

The panic subsided as its teeth went in
And I felt a soothing peace
As I was drawn beyond this world
To a land of sweet release
Now I walk among the nights
Casting wide my net
And I’ll call to you in dulcet tones
Until my hunger’s met

Bittersweet .. . . .
Virgin Meat. . .. .
